The Spanish oil company Repsol plans to invest in the development of the Brazilian deepwater fields Carioca 500 million euros in the period from 2008 to 2012.At the moment, Repsol has a share of 25% in the offshore Santos Basin, which includes the deposit Carioco. 45% is owned by the Brazilian state company Pertobras, 30% – British BG. While no official data on potential reserves of the deposit Carioco, but officials from the Brazilian Petroleum Agency said that they could amount to 33 billion barrels of oil. Repsol plans to invest in the next 4 years, 12.3 billion euros in projects of oil production and refining as well as the production of LNG. However, due to the economic crisis, these projections could be reviewed, reported Dow Jones.
