The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation was held on the Russian-Norwegian meeting on cooperation in the sphere of fuel and energy complex.The parties discussed issues of joint cooperation in energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, the problem of harmonization of industrial standards for health, safety and environment for oil in the Barents Sea (the project Barents 2020), the possibility of cooperation between Norwegian and Russian companies in oil – and gas sector, in particular with respect to the extraction of hydrocarbons on the continental shelfe.Po first issue, agreed to continue the development of Russian-Norwegian cooperation in the field of energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy. On the second issue of the agenda of talks identified the topic for further cooperation between Russia and Norway in 2009 in the area of research in terms of harmonization and to develop recommendations for the application of the existing regulatory framework in the development of oil and gas deposits of Barents Sea. Cooperation in this area is on the draft Barents 2020 since 2005. The project entails the development of industry standards, which must act on both sides of Norwegian-Russian border in the areas of health, environment and industrial safety.
