Ukraine today refused OJSC Gazprom in transit to Europe via the Ukrainian territory of 99.2 million cubic meters of gas per day, said press secretary Naftogaz Ukraine Valentin Zemlyanskiy. From Gazprom sent a request the same as yesterday , – said Zemlyanskiy. Yesterday the Gazprom filed a request for transit of 99.2 million cubic meters of gas per day. Zemlyanskiy confirmed that the transit is still possible. Earlier Naftogaz has repeatedly stressed that they do not have the possibility to transport such small amounts of fuel. The transit of gas through Ukraine to Europe, which was interrupted on 7 January, was to begin 13 January, when gazoizmeritelnye stations in Russia and Ukraine, arrived international commission. However, Naftogaz of Ukraine on 13 January was unable to accept Gazprom’s fuel for Europe, which was unacceptable conditions imposed by the Russian side. From the gas conflict, the parties continue to lose substantial funding. It is estimated that the Verkhovna Rada deputy and former head of Ministry of Fuel and Energy Yuriy Boyko, due to the termination of transit Ukraine nedopoluchila about a hundred million dollars. In the “Gazprom” on January 14, losses were estimated at 1,1-1,2 billion dollars. From the termination of transit to Europe were about 20 countries. They have to save gas and, if possible, move on to other fuels. The Russian-Ukrainian gas conflict has damaged the reputation of Gazprom and Naftogaz as a reliable supplier of fuel. It was expected that progress in the negotiation process, the parties can reach Jan. 17, when a meeting of all stakeholders, including representatives of the EU. Previously, it was reported that Prime Minister Vladimir Putin of Russia has proposed the EU create a gas consortium to share the risk of transit of gas. In turn, the Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said his country is ready to transport Russian oil to Europe for free. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that the conflict over the transit of gas through Ukraine to Europe has acquired an international character, and expressed hope for support of its European initiative to convene an international meeting on the issue. Unfortunately, the issue went beyond the framework of bilateral relations and the legal field , – Medvedev said today at a ceremony awarding him his credentials of ambassadors of foreign countries. As recalled Medvedev, in order to remove the gas situation of hunger, it was suggested to take place in Moscow on Saturday in the corresponding summit, an international conference on the delivery of gas to European consumers . We are ready to search for durable solutions, and hope that the Ukrainian side will show a responsible attitude and our European partners will contribute to finding a solution , – said Russian President.
